P06020, spin type electroscope

This simple device can even detect a charged friction rod.

It consists of a metal arm with a hub at its center and oppositely directed points on each end.

The arm pivots on a needle bearing on an insulated stand.

When a charged rod is brought close to the points, the electroscope begins to spin. In stronger fields, the speed increases.

The spinning arms are 15cm in diameter.
